Many of the world’s best wines are supposed to be enjoyed now. 

Especially this time of year! 

That’s why our wine team has spent all week handpicking some truly exceptional bottles you’ll want to drink this holiday season. 

It was a tough choice, but we’ve narrowed it down to our top picks across sparkling, white, and red. 

Here’s what’s making our nice list this year: 

The Sparkling Showstopper

Rare Brut Millésimé 2008 — £198 
Bubbling with elegance, this vintage Champagne is a masterpiece. Expect notes of white peach, acacia blossom, and toasted brioche with a refreshing citrus finish. It’s a natural partner for oysters, caviar, or your showstopping festive feast. 

The White Worth Toasting To 

Penfolds Yattarna Chardonnay 2018 — £130 
Dubbed “White Grange” for its exceptional pedigree, this Chardonnay is beautifully balanced. Bright citrus, luscious stone fruits, and creamy vanilla create a symphony of flavour, perfect with buttery lobster, roast chicken, or a rich cheese board. 

The Red to Remember 

Gianni Gagliardo Barolo Riserva Preve 2009 — £110 
This bold, velvety Barolo is a true Italian classic. Aromas of dark cherries, rose petals, and earthy truffles lead to a complex palate brimming with ripe berries and sweet spices. Enjoy it alongside beef Wellington, hearty stews, or aged cheeses.

Whisky Maple Old Fashioned 

• 50ml whisky 

• 10ml maple syrup 

• Dash of bitters 

• Orange peel for garnish 

Stir whisky, maple syrup, and bitters over ice, then garnish with orange peel. Smooth, warming, and oh-so-festive!
